I divide my time between gardening and painting and enjoy the balance of working outdoors and illustrating at home. In 2012 I started gardening professionally and I do garden maintenance as well as design.
In 2019 I enrolled in a garden design course to support the demand for garden and planting design.
In addition I have taken various drawing and painting classes, and enrolled in Korky Paul’s Children’s Picture Book Illustration class in 2011. In 2013 I finished the Ashmolean Art School Experience, an advanced art class exploring different media. After that I enrolled in the Cambridge Illustration Summer course, and subsequently took the intermediate and advanced picture book classes at the House of Illustration. I still work with Claire Alexander, who is their tutor and also an amazing children's book author and illustrator.
I use mostly watercolours, and enjoy drawing and painting flowers and landscapes.
Thomas, as seen in the picture, was the model for the main character Tobey in The Magic Dodo. Now a tall teenager, he helps promote the book and greetings cards at art fairs and markets.
